The National Domestic Workers’ Movement (NDWM)
works with a large number of organisations at the
local, national and international level for the common interest of
domestic workers, child domestic workers and migrant and
trafficked domestic workers. In all regions as well as at the
national level, we also try to network with the municipal,
district, state and central government.

We work with community based
organisations, welfare agencies, government boards, health
organisations and hospitals.
National Level

Campaign against Trafficking of women for forced
labour (domestic work).

Campaign Against Child Labour

Media Campaign to change public opinion

Campaign for the inclusion of domestic workers
in the Unorganised Sector Workers Social Security Bill.
Network with NGOs and other government bodies for the rights as
mentioned above.
International Level Our Movement is
endorsed by the Catholic Bishop’s Commission of Labour
(CBCI) and recognised by the Archdiocese of Mumbai,
India.
A network has been formed with some parishes in Mumbai for
celebrating masses in Hindi and Konkani for domestic workers and
cultural celebrations. Some of the international
networks we are members of include:

Migrant Forum Asia (MFA): The Movement is
a partner of MFA who looks after the issues of domestic workers
both cross border migrants and inter-migrants

Asian Migrant Centre (AMC): To
participate in conventions on issues of Migrant Domestic workers
-
Child Workers in Asia (CWA): An
organisation that deals with child labour issues and believes in
the same principle that child labour is the worst form of
slavery.

Anti Slavery International (member since
1996): We are partners with Antislavery International on the
grounds of common principles: that domestic work is slavery.
Presently we have been working with them of the issue of
children in domestic work in areas of advocacy, research and
action.

Global Alliance Against Trafficking of Women
(GAATW): We endorse campaigns and awareness programmes on
issues of trafficking and forced labour. We also are resource
people for conventions.

International Labour Organisation, UN Human
Rights, and UNICEF: On all human rights issues, we receive
documentation and information on laws, rights and justices
avaible to domestic workers - women and children.

We are members of the International Society for the
Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (ISPCAN), Confidential
Centre, Belgium and the Women’s World Summit Foundation
(WWSF).
A network has been formed with some parishes in Mumbai for
celebrating masses in Hindi and Konkani for domestic workers and
cultural celebrations.

NDWM participates
in relevant conventions and conferences both at national and
international levels.
